Bantay

Description
Taken in Baguio, Philippines (2016) • In response to the super typhoon that has recently hit the Philippines, 100% of proceeds from print sales for this photo will go towards supporting the Philippine Red Cross, "a humanitarian organization committed to providing quality, life-saving services that protect the life and dignity of Filipinos in vulnerable situations." Ilocano is the main dialect spoken in Baguio City. “The Ilocano word for mountain is ‘bantay’ and the mountains have always defended us from typhoons and severe weather disturbances by serving as natural barriers and mitigating the effects of heavy rainfall.” (via Pinoy Mountaineer, 2015)
